about me

I am a Czech artist and designer working primarily with glass. Yet I did not choose glass – I would rather say I was fortunate enough that glass chose me. After studying ceramics at the Václav Hollar Art School in Prague, I wanted to continue shaping forms directly with my hands. When I applied to the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, I was admitted not to sculpture, as I had intended, but to the Studio of Glass. This unexpected turn became the foundation of my artistic path.

Throughout my studies and career I have been influenced by many remarkable professors, including Jiří Mareš, Rony Plesl, Jin Hongo, Yoshitaka Jinnai, and Nobuyuki Fujiwara. Equally formative were my experiences living and working in Japan – first in Toyama, then Kyoto, and now Tokyo – where I continue my doctoral research at Tokyo University of the Arts. Japanese culture, with its clarity of form and sensitivity to materials, has long been an important source of inspiration for me.

My work spans from Conceptual Design to glass sculptures, yet always centers on concept, emotions, and the dialogue with material. I see glass not only as matter, but also as a medium of communication that can cross cultural and linguistic boundaries. What I aim to convey through my pieces is a sense of presence – the immersive feeling of being alive in the here and now.

Today I live and work between the Czech Republic and Japan, moving at the intersection of European and Asian glass art scenes. I regard this position as both a privilege and a responsibility: through my artistic practice, exhibitions, and cross-cultural collaborations I strive to contribute to dialogue and exchange between these worlds. And as my journey continues, I am increasingly fascinated by the diversity of glass art globally – eager to discover new forms, voices, and traditions beyond Europe and Asia.
