Carmine White

2015 | opaline, garnet and crystal glass | mold–blowing, cutting, polishing, gluing | 15×15×18cm

This vase was created in collaboration with the Astera Glass Company for the London Design Festival.
Inspired by Japanese ikebana and by my grandmother’s love of flowers, the design deliberately challenges conventional vase proportions: it is smaller and wider than usual. It can hold a small bouquet or just one or two stems. My grandmother often rescued a broken flower from the garden and treated it as the most precious jewel — a gesture of care and reverence for nature that continues to inspire my work.
