Feeling Fragile

Behind each of my artworks lies a different thought and emotion, yet there is also a common thread connecting them. In today’s world, the time we reserve for ourselves is an increasing luxury. I strive to create works that can become part of these rare moments – works that inspire reflection and touch people on a personal level.

At present, my research focuses on the parallels and differences between contemporary Japanese and Czech glass. This theoretical study broadens my perspective and helps me grow as an artist. What I discover through research often finds its way into my artworks – especially those aspects that cannot be expressed in words. For me, glass is a medium of interpersonal communication, able to cross cultural and linguistic boundaries.

When I came to Japan, I encountered beautiful glass beads and began to use them in my work. To me, the beads represent both the delicacy of human relationships and the delicacy within ourselves. From a distance, the sculpture appears as a compact whole; yet up close, one sees that it is composed of countless fragile parts, each playing an essential role. Since moving to Japan, I have become aware, for the first time in my life, of how sensitive I am – and how delicate human bonds can be. But it is precisely this delicacy that makes them precious and beautiful. This is what I aim to capture in my bead sculptures.
